About MIBCO

At the heart of South Africa’s dynamic automotive landscape, the Motor Industry Bargaining Council (MIBCO) stands as a cornerstone of progress, collaboration, and fair practices.

We are the driving force behind fair labour practices and collaboration in South Africa’s dynamic motor industry. As a Council, we are committed to fairness, respect and aim to become more equitable and a thriving partner in the motor industry, by navigating the complex landscape where employer and employee interests converge.

The Council was established in terms of section 27 of the Labour Relations Act, Act 66 of 1995 as amended, and registered as the Bargaining Council in terms of Section 29 of the Act with a specific predefined scope focusing on the motor industry.

To make all this possible, the Labour Relations Act provides for the self-regulation of Industries through the medium of Bargaining Councils. MIBCO, as a Bargaining Council envisaged in the Act whose mission is to create and maintain industrial peace and stability in the Motor Industry, provides the following services throughout South Africa.

  • Forum and facilities for Collective Bargaining,
  • Settlement of Labour Disputes,
  • Provision of Social Benefits for the upliftment of all persons falling within the Industry, i.e. Pension, Provident, Medical, Sick, Accident, Maternity and Holiday Pay Funds.

From workshops and fuel stations to dealerships and manufacturing plants and more, we aim to create a stable environment where employers and employees can thrive together.

Our purpose is:
We champion peace, equality and sustainable livelihoods, to enrich the lives of those we serve
